San Diego Native, Andre, initially was drawn to yogas physicality. Coming from a background of playing competitive sports from a young age, he was ready and accepted the physical challenges yoga had presented him. Soon after pursuing a regular yoga practice, he began to understand the struggle to balance competitive drive with respect for the body’s limits. Before long, he found peace, clarity, and stillness in his practice and is intrigued by the mind-body connection yoga has to offer. He believes yoga has a way of giving you what you want, but at the same time also what you need.
His style welcomes beginner and intermediate practitioners, offering challenges to those seeking to advance their practice. During class he focuses on proper alignment and mindfully syncing breathe with movement through creative flow and transition. His intention is to express his passion and gratitude for yoga and inspire the same in his students.
Janice began her yoga journey in 2012 when she took her first hot yoga class. She instantly fell in love with the art, discipline, physical and mental benefits that yoga provided. With a background of studying dance at UC Irvine and being a former school teacher, she soon realized that she wanted to share her passion with others. She completed her instructor training in 2012 and has been teaching and practicing ever since. She looks forward to sharing her practice with you.
Justin began his yoga journey in 2011 taking Hatha and Kundalini classes at Pomona College. After graduating in 2013 with a B.A. in cultural anthropology, he attended his 200-hour teacher training through the Samarya Center for Human Kind(ness). Justin enjoys exploring the diversity of yoga styles, especially yin and Ashtanga vinyasa, and believes the practice can offer tremendous benefits for students of any age, any body, anywhere. He lives in Gig Harbor with his partner, four goats, and chickens, and also teaches on Bainbridge Island at Passion for Practice and the Bainbridge Athletic Club.
Rachel took her first yoga class in 2005 and fell in love with the practice right away. 3 years later she took her 200 hour Teacher Training with CorePower Yoga in Huntington Beach, CA. She has continued her education with intensives in Hatha, Yin and workshops with leading Yoga Teachers. When not at the yoga studio Rachel is spending time with her husband, 4 children and pets.
In her early twenties Shawnda began her journey of exploration of self through mediation and shortly after she was re-introduced to the asana practice. Only wanting to deepen her practice, Shawnda ventured to Bali where she received her 200 RYT Certification under the guidance of Meghan Currie. Not too long after, she began to explore her teaching journey. This then introduced her to the teachings of Reanna Costa, whom she received her Yin & Chakra certification from in late 2015 and continues to learn under through mentor-ship and assisting at training’s. In between these times, she also stumbled across various energy work and was introduced to Reiki. This form of energy work and the connection to the chakras resonated with her so much that she soon began her path as a Reiki Practitioner with Jessica Campbell in 2014.
During her classes, Shawnda loves to combine her passion for words, the beauty of the breath, and the intrinsic energy that flows within to create imagery and sensations that have the potential to bring you into the depths of your body and the corners of your mind you may have yet to explore. Each movement is infused with the rhythms of the breath so we can begin to create integrated and fluid movements that unravel as a moving meditation. Giving you space to play in each movement and explore the openings of energy as they come through in your own unique experience.
Outside of yoga, Shawnda can be found reading, writing, giggling, playing in nature or on road trips, napping with her pups, or hanging with her loved ones.
Tina is a Washington State Native who decided to become a Yoga Instructor after giving up her career as a Professional dancer in 2011. She is CorePower Yoga trained and enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs!
